I have been fighting the same envy since I saw the first orange /black last summer. But since I have an additional 10K in mine I can't justify the beating I would take. So I just keep mine looking new and ride the hell out of it. I already have 29K on this 2008 and I can't see how the additional 15 grand could make it much more fun!

First lets make this clear, NO DISRESPECT TO ANY CVO OWNERS OR CYCLES. OK, not thats outta the way, I bought a 2004 CVO Electraglide, (my avatar). I loved that bike but it was very costly to purchase, insurance was a bit higher but not horrible over a stock EG. Way back in 1999 the CVO line was born, 2 FXR models, 900 of each model. In 2004, still 2 models but couple of color options. My SEEG was Black/Blue and there was an Orange/Black version. Total of 2750 (approx) made so 1325 of each color, still 2750 is quite a jump from the 900 in 1999. Now onto 2005, 3 models instead of 2. See a trend here? If not read on.....

2008 4 differnet CVO models, the SEUltra is the top dog with a total number of 4200 produced, yes that is just in the ultra version. 2009, not only do we have the SEUltra, we now have the SERoadglie, and a few others! Harley saw the fact that if they build it, you will buy it!

So onto my points. My 04 listed at $28,500, today they are out there with low miles for about $19,000. Lots of hit on the price for a limited production CVO. Why? Could it be that they are much easier to get today, partly due to the economy and mostly due to the increased production runs. My 04 was cool in the respect that I did not see one on every corner, the 09s, not sure how many they are making but I have seen many on the road and in showrooms. Yes they are great looking, but not so hard to get and I do not believe the value will hold. Look at how it was back in 02 and 03. Supply and demand, used bikes were at a premium since new was tough to get. The MOCO builds more capacity at the York assembly plant and what happend in 04? You could pretty much get any bike you wanted without putting down a deposit and waiting a bunch to get it, not to mention used bike prices have been dropping ever since.

So, ya want personal, low production numbers, custom features and paint? Do up yer own. Odds are you won't pull in somewhere and see a twin parked in the lot with you, and your resale will be about the same as a CVO.

Just my humble opinion, and by the way, I traded for a new 09 Street Glide and have not looked back. The ride, handling, and brakes are worlds ahead of my beloved 04!

Ride Safe Enjoy!

You have a nice bike now.

Trouble is, bike buying is never a rational decision....

Cool Deal Bunkerbeer, best of luck with it. Hope all them rear jug problems on those 110s are finally fixed now. Make sure ya do the belt guard mod and seal up that swingarm if ya can. Those RGs are by far the best lookin CVO so far IMHO!

I tried the same thing and they wanted my bike and $13,000. If you don't mind via PM or on here what you got for a deal that would be great.

I'm not a huge fans of the RG's, I prefer batwing bikes BUT, the SE Roadglide is a seriously sharp bike!
