you have to go in thru the headlight and remove the nut that holds the long chrome trim piece resting on the top of headlight bezzel which holds down the cover.

Done that already, and loosened the nacelles even though I should have left alone, the cover is loose but will not come up, there is 2 steel slugs in the picture, are they anything that requires removal?

no. all you should need to do is remove the 2 screws there and it should come right up. did you remove the screws?

I'm at work and doing this by memory but.....there should be 2 screws that hold done the handle bar cover. I don't see them in your picture but I know they're there on my bike which is only one year newer. are you saying you only had one and did remove it?

The only one I have removed is the one at the front, under the Lock Unlock plate is two 8mm blanks as seen in the pictures, do you think they could be anti tamper slugs?

Remember once you move your bars you'll likely need to adjust your levers and your blinkers assuming they are on your bars as well.

I've just found a PDF file http://www.harleyhog.co.uk/photos/my.../rkbarswap.pdf explaining where there are two screws but I have 2 blanks in their place, are these to be removed first? Sorry if this thread is boring readers but this is a nightmare as I want to tighten up the handlebars and 1 cover is in the way.

Damn dude you are killin me!! This is Harleys little "anti-tamper" joke. They put one on my '09 RG. I can get the top clamp bolts out but they put a nice little piece of plastic over the bottom 2. Ended up drilling it out so I can "tamper" when I want to!
