I believe the indicator light is OK, resistive check on the leads off the starter leads suggests that.

I'm not sure about the electrical relay off the starter motor - could be a possibility.

What about the mechanical adjustment on either the clutch or if there's such a thing, on the transmission?

Mine ('07 Ultra) flashes like crazy if I sit in traffic for a little bit & it gets hot - usually once the traffic breaks and it gets some air flow it seems to calm down. I thought I read somewhere there was a recall on the switch that triggers the light, but I just never bothered...
