DO NOT have any manipulation done until you have been cleared by a Neurosurgeon. A majority of the time if you are experiencing Sciatica, you may have a 'bulging disc" or you mave have an HNP(herniated disc) in which case manipulation could cause you to be paralyzed, depending on the location of the disc.

Good Luck and Good Riding!
That is the biggest crock of nonsense I've ever heard. Falls into the category of bullshit I mentioned earlier. I treat people with HNP every day. 150,000 adjustments (manipulations if you like) and absolutely nothing even close to a severe side effect from the adjustment. I have neurosurgeons refer to me all the time. HNP with extrusion is a surgical condition. HNP without is likely going to respond to conservative management with chiropractic.
A chiropractor is a licensed physician and FULLY trained to know what people should and should not have chiropractic care. I don't know what you do for a living, but peddling BS advice like that I can only hope you don't actually work in the health care field. If you do you are completely ignorant of the research and the mechanics and neurology that you are so freely dispensing advice about.
After years of back issues.... INVERSION machine (5 minutes in the morning and at night) has taken 10 years off of my back. May not work for everyone but it was the best $300 I've spent in years.
I fell on my a$$ HARD a few weeks ago and haven't been able to saddle up since. My back pain is tolerable but my tail bone still hurts when I sit....especially when I go to sit or stand up. The pressure of doing so hurts ALOT! How do you get away with tail bone pain and ride???????
The stretching is a good idea, proper seat, bar, floorboard ergo's definitely. The "Lots of ibuprofen" advice should be taken with a grain of salt. Heavy use of ibuprofen over a long period of time results in gastric bleeding. Uncontrolled GI bleeding from long term NSAID (eg ibuprofen) use kills around 10,000 Americans every year.
If you have a disc herniation with extruded nucleus in the canal, you need surgery and it is quite successful with that specific condition. Anything short of that may respond and often completely go away with chiropractic care. Yes there are good and bad chiro's and sometimes even with good care, your situation may not resolve with chiro care, but it is conservative, safe (unconfirmed horror stories that my brothers, uncles, friends, neighbor told me he went to a chiro and now he..., blah blah usually are just bullshit) and could be the ticket. I get a lot of riders back to comfortable in the saddle again.
Good luck
CHIROPRACTOR could not help, 2 MRI's, back specialist, physical therapy and still nothing. I was told by the 1st specialist that they cant do nothing for me. I am giving it another try with another back specialist. I really hope this works. Being a LEO with back problems really sucks!

Did you have your tailbone checked out? My girl fell hard to and was in a lot of pain and when she did decide to see a doctor she was told she had a fracture and had surgery.
Holy crap ! I was thinking of this same issue. But mine's a bit different.
2 1/2 weeks ago, I dropped my 3 day old 09 Road King Classic at a stop sign. Embarressed as all hell for anyone to see my nice new Harley laying in the street. I put my back to it, grabbed the left handle bar and the rear saddlebar bar and jerked it straight up with all the might I had and could muster (using my arms and back).... the bike did not budge, but my back sure did.
I just found out today (after an MRI Monday night) that I have 3 herniated disks, and a compression fracture. But I have still put on about 400 miles since the injury.
But now that I know what I did, I'm not sure I should (or can) take a break from riding.
ive had two surgeries..oddly enough, i feel better without the backrest..seems to be less pressure if i can stretch out, and prop my legs out..take some over the counter meds and try to deal with it,,,very tough at times though..

I did go to the Dr and had x-rays done and was told everything was OK......just going to be sore for awhile. My buddy told me he broke his when he was younger and they didn't do anything for him except tell him that time heals with tail bone injuries. I guess I went into the Dr expecting the same thing be told to me, and it was. It seems like my Dr was more concerned with my back anyways. I did tell him about my pain in both areas. But at the time it was my back that hurt more so I'm sure he concetrated on that by what I told him. It has gotten much better than what it was but still hurts like a ***** trucker.
