I saw a CVO Ultra the other day at the dealer. I could not believe how ugly the stock hinges looked on the bike, really out of place. When I went out to the parking lot and got on my bike, I was content with the knowledge that there's at least one part of my bike that looks better than the CVO.

I have an orange CVO RG with a chopped tour pak and neverous as hell about screwing it up. I bought the hinges a couple of weeks ago and will work up the nerve to drill them out soon. The CVO painted parts are so freekin expensive.

I really like these hinges. Nice to have a second set of hands after you remove OE hinges and are ready to reinstall Tour Pak lid.

Pot metal or not, it's difficult to imagine these hinges ever seeing enough stress to break without the Tour Pak cracking first. Only time will tell.

+1

And I have a lighted lid wing so the lid just won't come off without un-wiring the wing. Did one at a time as stated above, dumped the drill part on the first one that spun.

Yeah, they look and work great. Good mod for the cash.

For the person that's going to drill his TP lid... get some painters tape and put over the areas where the rack is to go. Measure a dozen times before you drill... bet it still will be off center to the left when you're done. There's no rhyme or reason for this but it seems to be the norm for a first time installer.

I have the same lighted spoiler. I cut the wires, removed the Tour Pak lid to change the hinges, reattached the three wires (solder/shrink tubing) when hinge swap was complete.

It just seemed easier than taking off the seat, disconnecting the wiring, pulling it thru the rubber grommet in the Tour Pak and then reversing the procedure when hinge swap was complete.

Just my preference I guess.

Had thought about doing that too but I'm just a lazy bum.

In order to justify NOT getting the new style hinges......I'll say I'm trying to maintain that "Classic" look

I'd rate these hinges as one of the best "low cost" upgrades available for an FLH. Just a notch above the $24.95 chrome fork air air baffle.

New hinges and chrome fork air baffle. Two best chrome upgrades under $50.00!

You guys are smarter than me. I have the lighted rack, but I drilled through the rivets, then took off the top - only to discover that it was still connected by the wires. A real nice Homer Simpson kind of moment. DOH!
