Ring Replacement
One of our friends had her 08 Road Glide in for her 10000 and they said they saw some oil around the air cleaner and did a leak down test and found it border line on the rings. They are replacing the rings and honing the cylinders. It is warranty so no cost. I had been noticing oil every once and a while on my wifes 08 Street Glide but I always thought it was coming from the Big Sucker bolts. I had it in yesterday for a fluid change and asked the Dealer to see if she may have the same problem. Yup! They said it was in excess and are doing the same to hers. The tech said it will show up most at higher speeds like Interstate 75+. He says they never really seated and has seen it in other 08s. Says it will only get worse and it is a good thing to do before it does. My wifes bike has over 15000 on it, and runs great. Anybody else heard of this?
that's good to hear, my warranty expires valentines day next year, and i did have some oil from the air filter housing which is common, but i'll get compression checked right before it goes out of warranty. if so, then i will have the 103" on their labor rather than out of my pocket other than just the parts.
I had the option to go with the 103 but after some research on it I believe the 96 is a better way to go. I feel the 103 might be better with some other help such as cams and things.
