How much oil do you put in when you change your oil. Just changing the engine oil. The service maual calls for 3.5qts on one page and another page calls for 4qts

Just changed my again a couple of days ago. I put in about 4 oz over 3.5 quarts. I started at 3.5 and then followed the suggested procedure of warming up the bike by riding, then let it idle on the jiffy stand for 1 to 2 minutes. Turn it off, check the oil level and adjust to the full line.

Usually no more than 3.5 quarts unless you have an oil cooler then it's around 4 quarts.

Pour in about 3.25 quarts then trickle it in from there slowly til you get it right where you want it. If you overfill you'll have it belching out inside the air cleaner - messy!

With 3.5 quarts it was little low, added the other half and it filled it right to the full line.

The book says start with 3.5 quarts and capacity is 4 quarts.

I have a cooler and 3.5 qts. puts it just a notch below the full mark. Adding another 4 oz. or so puts it back up, but I've been leaving it at the 3.5-qt. level.
