They do look good on your bike. Thanks!
Thanks for posting the pics. You are welcome!
You mention that they're wider at the top than the HD lowers. Do they still block the upward airflow along the sides of the tank? Yes they block the air very good and since they are wider and closer to the fairing I believe they catch more of the 'swirling air' from below. I get absolutely no air from below. I can place my hand below the tank and feel a gentle stream of air that seems to hit the engine while riding. I can also put my feet comfortably on the pegs and get all the air you could want
Do they give you more foot and leg room then HD lowers? I think so ,based on the fact that they mount AHEAD of the crash bar instead of enveloping it. There is no clostrophobic feeling around the brake pedal or front of the floorboard like I used to experience with my FLH HD lowers.
Thanks for answering my questions. I just want to make sure I'm spending my hard earned money on the right parts for me.
Steve
I tried to answer as best I could and thanks to you and the writeup you did on the Sweepers, I have the best fitting bike I have ever been on!
so ky thanks to you Steve. Hope you get the right lowers for your ride.
To the last poster, I do not live in Florida but where I am on the Virginia coast it gets pretty nasty hot and humid in July and August and I never thought of taking the lowers off.

I have the Hoggchops on my 05 RG and they work well. The paint job was perfect from them. They really cut down on the buffeting along with adding a +2" Clearview windshield.

Mike, thanks so much for the thorough post. I'm 90% sure I'll get the Hogg Chopps. They just make sense to me when you say they are mounted ahead of the crash bar. Just like the Road Glide fairing is mounted farther forward than the batwing.
I was at the dealer today looking at all the bikes with lowers. Just convinced me even more to go with the Chopps. The HD lowers are just too close. I also think they'll interfere with the way I have my highway pegs mounted.
One last question then. Do the chopps allow plenty of room for highway pegs. It looks like they do to me. Just thought I'd ask.
BTW, I'm glad you got something out of my handlebar thread. I'm still 100% happy with the sweepers.
OH, last thing . . . the dealer had a RG in the same color as yours. Really cool looking in person. It's gotta be much easier to take care of the paint. My black bike is a PITA to keep clean and scratch free.
PM'ed you sifularson, but will mention it here as well. HD apparently is introducing an FLTRU which, in HD model designation, would mean a Road Glide Ultra. It will be interesting to see if they come out with something new in the way of fairing lowers for that bike--perhaps vented, glove boxes, or something else. In any event, it might be worth waiting 4 weeks to see if they have something new.
Steve, I do not think you'll be disappointed. I have my pegs on HD 360 mounts and there are an infinate number of ways to position them with the lowers. The combination of the of the Khrome Werks Sweeper +2s, Clearview +2 and the Hogg Chopps so far have made this by FAR and away the most comfortable Touring bike for me, I wish you the same! I also added a set of floorboard extenders and I can ride this mount literally all day long.
As far as the color, I fell in love with it when I saw it and ordered this bike in October and waited til February for it to get here. Folks either love it or hate it, but it is easy to take care of. I have only washed it three times! The only thing that will hurt this paint is wax! First day I had it I was changing the master cylinder covers, bike on the jiffy stand, you know the rest....brake fluid ran all down the front of the gas tank and the front fender...I said %^@*#(!!!***# just ruined the dam thing and it isn't 24 hours old. Got a rag, some Harley Gloss and it cleaned right up! It amazed me. Since then I have had a couple of gas spills getting used to the tank ( I came from a Road King style filler)and they clean right up with a rag.. I plan on keeping this bike til its either time to hang it up or go to 3 wheels!

I also have a Clearview (+1), Floorboard extenders, Kuryakyn cruiseboards, rider backrest, and I just bought a Mustand Ultra Touring seat. Along with the sweepers, I can easily ride 400 to 500 miles and hardly feel it. I'm sure the lowers will make it even better on the long haul. I'm just getting used to the seat and it isn't broken in yet. I can already tell it's a big improvement over the stock seat.
As you can see, I've spent a lot of money to make my Road Glide into an "Ultra Road Glide". Like you, I'll ride the wheels off this thing. The only thing that might change that is the new 2010 Tour Glide that is rumored. I might be tempted to trade this one in if it pans out.
Do you have a ride planned for the holiday? We'll be meeting a bunch of riding friends for a full weekend of riding and probably get 400 miles in over 3 days. I'm ready to go!
I'll let you know when the lowers arrive and are installed.
