Since the first of the year I've put 15,500 miles on it as of this post. It's running GREAT with NO problems at all. No pinging, no excessive heat that i've noticed, the heat management has never kicked in yet - I'm mostly on open roads though, rarely in stop n go traffic but what little I have been in it didn't kick-in.
I plan on leaving this bike as-is as far as intake/exhaust/motor. I may add an oil cooler just as a matter of course, but I'm VERY pleased with it in every way. Even the factory seat is comfortable for me.
It rides like a dream and has been a pure joy to own and ride...
My 09 FLTR runs great, lots of power. Completely stock, does not ping and have had no problems. After my 1,000 mile check i run Amsoil in engine, Belray in Trans and HD Formula + in chaincase. The Belray trans gear oil makes finding neutral easier.
I am completely satisified with the Road Glide and my wife likes the extra comfort over the 08 FatBoy we traded in on the 09 FLTR.
To date, this is the best bike I have ever owned. I'm really glad that I waited for the new 09 frame. I have installed SE slash-down muffs, SE high flow ac, Stage 1 download, added vented lower fairings, and I run Redline in the tranny. The Stage 1 download lowered the temps. The Redline reduced the shift clunk, 5th gear whine, and made neutral very easy to find. No pinging, unlike my 07 Springer Classic. I had the dealer perform the tech bulletins regarding drilling a drain hole in the belt guard and checking the jiffy stand lean angle; no big deal.
One thing that I have noticed about the SE muffs is that they are developing a great low tone as the miles roll up, and getting a little louder in a really good way.
I am a happy camper!
Go for it!

My POS SERG runs as advertised. It runs hot, makes some noises, goes as fast as I need it to, looks badass, will accommodate expensive accessories easily, handles awesome and looks badass. I paid way too much for it but I knew that goin in. Well the temp just dropped below 100 so I am going to ride it some more. T.
09 R/K standard here .. rode So. Cali to No. Cali and back two weeks ago .. 1k miles (coast route)..no problems whatsoever. locked in cruise at 85mph on the open road and enjoyed the ride.
