jiffy stand spring

thanks everyone. I got a new spring over lunch hour. I was planning on putting in on this evening, but the service tech put it on for free. That was very cool of him. The grand total came to $4.28

easiest way to replace is to take the nut and locker off the top of the stand. remove the stand. hook the spring in the frame and the stand then angle the stand into the bracket and lever the stand right into the bracket. piece of cake. no tugging, pulling, cussing trying to install using pliers and such.

Lay it over on the engine guard. You won't scratch it so long as you don't let it slide back and forth while lowering it down or picking it up.

Always carry a spare spring! I had that happen 2 or 3 times on my '05 EGC when I had it. The spring is $5 so keep a spare in your saddle bag. If you don't need it then someone in your group or someone you encounter on the road may need it and you'll be their HERO for sure.
I did it with my Leatherman tool - but you do need a helper to hold the bike up while you're installing the spring cuz it's easiest to do with the jiffy stand in the UP position.

WHAT! There are manuals! Ok, I've got a couple but some of the pages are hard to read, damndest thing, if you use them they get dirty. So, does anyone know of a good way to clean the pages in my service manuals?
