check your grounds for the battery and starter. seen it before on more than one bike. take the connection off, clean it and put it back on. you can't always see the corrosion behind the contact.

Mine did this exact same thing a few weeks ago it's the single green wire that connects to the starter in the clip take it off and reconnect it and see if it will turn over.

Hot cable to the starter!
Mine did the same thing - the cable broke at the crimp to the starter.
$9 part from HD - easy replacement.... problem solved (for me anyways)....

The click you're hearing is most likely the solonoid being sucked in by your handlebar start switch. The solonoid is a magnetic switch - it's sucks in and makes heavy contacts that deliver current to the starter motor.

The bike is 12volt. There should be zero voltage drop across the solonoid and across the battery (pos) terminal and the cable. If there is a voltage drop then whatever is left is all that is available to push the current required for cranking - it doesn't take much of a voltage drop to get a click-click!

As suggested it could be the starter ground - the ground is the return path - without it, there is no complete circuit to crank the starter.

I say loose connections (batter-solonoid-starter motor) or the solonoid itself is toast.

Starter wire bolt and battery wire bolts are tight.
Done not crank just makes a click sound when you hit start button
Jump start does nothing, it will only make the click sound
No water behind the starte switch.
