Have a '08 Street Glide w/ approx 4500 miles. When I shift into 5th, notice a high pitch "whine". Is this another stigma for the Street Glide, or should I get this checked out? Thnx

Believe it or not . . . I'm actually going to give you some constructive advice . . .
Change your transmission oil to Redline transmission oil with shockproof. I was using Amsoil which is excellent oil but I noticed a difference as soon as I changed. Give it a try.
The whine in 5th is a product of the straight cut gears that are used for 5th. All the other gears are helical cut to eliminate any noise. It is normal to hear some noise. If your drain plug magnet has a little fuzz, everything is OK. If there are larger flakes, take it to a dealer ASAP.
I think that I have heard somewhere that the whine is intentional so you will know when you are in 5th. Sometimes ya don't want to lug the bike in 6th.
