does anybody know a scenic route south of 90, across the state of south dakota. last year the trip down 90 was long and not much to see till i got to mo. river

You are right, seeing the Missouri river is great, no matter what way you come in from.
I've taken the "southern route" a few times accross SD. Taking Hwy 44, brings you right up to Wall.
You can also grab Hwy 18 in Winner and come into the Black Hills in Hot Springs. Both are great slower going roads.

From what I hear, you do not want to ride into, out of or through Nebraska. The folks are ok but the leo's don't like motorcycles.

I'm not sure there's a better way than I-90. It's faster, and bottom line, there's not much to see until you reach the Badlands. At least on 90 there's plenty of places to stop for fuel.
