Default Ultra Classic

I am looking for an Ultra Classic. I cannot purchase one for another 3-4 months at the earliest, but am in no rush. Would just like to have one before next season. I would get it used but preferably 2007 or newer with 15k miles or less. What should I expect to pay if I get it from a dealer? I saw one today that was an 07 with 20k miles for 17995. Would there be any wiggle room there?

There should be plenty of wiggle room there especially with the 2010's coming out soon.

There is a post right now with brand new Ultra's for 18k from a dealer in Il.

Nice choice, good luck in your search, there are plenty of them around to pick from.

I am going to rent one next weekend. I currently have a V Star 1300 Tourer. My wife and I just got back from a 9 hour trip to the beach. And while we had a blast, it was obvious to us that we need a more comfortable ride for the trips we take.

My goal is to just get $200 or less/mo payments. I have about $5000 trade in so we shall see if I am able to wing it.

What kind of deal should I be looking for? Would love an 08 with around 15k miles or less. Hopefully trying to find one 15500 OTD or less. Is that possible? I have a great credit score so was hoping to get a low rate as well.

Take your time, and take your pick! It should be "easy money" these days.

Now is a good time to start lookng for a great deal on an 08. Once the 2010's come out, there should be a lot of people looking to trade up and they will be shocked once they find out what the dealer wants to give for the trade. Believe it or not, there are also a lot of used bikes out there with very low miles and some nice goodies already installed. If you can find something you like for 17K , put down the 5K and end up with a 12K loan @ 6% for 6 years, there's your $200 per month payment. Then add another $100 per month for all the other great stuff you'll get if you continue to stay on this forum. If you buy a used bike I'd look for the ABS and one that still has plenty of warranty or even better, a tranferrable extended warranty. The 2 year warranty's on the 08's that were bought in July 07 are about to start expiring.

Screw-it. Just ride the V-Star with the wife on back to the dealer and then test drive a new 09. Use lot of strategic words like "our new bike" and "I just want you to be safe and comfortable" and " what do you think about this color".

One each 2009 Ultra Classic in vivid black retails for $20,999.00 MSRP according the Harley's web site. There are dealers out there that will deal lower than that as testified to by a number of folks on this forum. The OP is talking about an 07 model (2 years old) with ~20,000 miles on it and they're asking $17,995. That's $3004 difference from full MSRP on a "new" bike.

Maybe it's just me, but paying within $3000 of the price of a brand new bike for a 2 year old machine seems a bit much. I'd think they could come off that number a bit. If not, I'd be much more inclined to save up for a little longer and go for a new one.

FWIW!
Good luck,
Steve R.

I was very fortunate to find this beautiful '03 Ultra Classic with only 4500 miles on it. I found it by pure accident while getting the fork seals replaced on a '94 GL1500SE Goldwing. I paid $14,000 for the Ultra Classic just as you see it in the picture. The original owner had it well loaded with HD chrome. Sure wish I still had it.

I'd bet that, if you're patient, you'd find an '07 in the 15's or and '08 in the 16's.
