Ok but how many people here have broke there bikes down and never thought twice about it....Well i have.......and i feel the same way about this one.....Do you trust the shop and the tech...it sounds like they are trying to make it right......it would not bother me in the least if i trusted the shop and the tech.......I have broke mine down to the frame a couple times........Just my .02

either dump it when you get it back, or as mentioned have the frame painted to match the tins, ask for a 110 motor for compensation

I don't really see the point in getting rid of the bike. Yes...The dealer will have to tear it down to a pile of nuts and bolts, replace the frame, and then reassemble it. It's ashamed that it has to happen, bu it does. 10 years ago I had a new Dodge Ram that got in a bad accident and they replaced the bed and the FRAME with just 10k on the truck. I did take it back twice for minor problems, but for years later the truck was great. And how many board members here are riding bike they totally tore apart and customized. I don't see the difference. I would express my concerns to the service manager about having the job done right and having the right person do it. If you get rid of it you will loose a lot of money weather you trade it or sell it privately. Also..I would see no reason to disclose that the frame had been replaced if you sell it privately. The bike was not in a accident, it was just a manufacturing error.

I know you feel like it will never be the same but when you get down to it its a frame and all parts are bolted to it ,be it from the MOCO or a tech they are going to check this bike out before the return it to you.Every time you bring a bike in for service a tech takes something off your bike and puts it back on like the front and rear wheels and tires and you take it and ride it as always without a second thought,some of us even do all the work ourselves because we can or there have been issues with a dealer that you don't trust anymore but back in your mind you may always have doubt so trade it and hope they give you a decent deal on a new bike.I Hope everything works out for you

You guys crack me up ..Its all... if it was me all i want is 8 years of warranty and a new Lamborghini if you replace the frame or a new 2010.. Or its dump it? Why ? there isnt anything wrong with it other than a frame defect and thats easily fixed!.. The guy just has it in his head at this point thats he is better than anyone else and he wants a new bike period.. Im sorry and flame me if you must but the safety issue is b/s at this point.. No one injured no deaths end of subject.. Im thinking he needs to sell the damn thing after its fixed (thats where im putting my money) and get a dam honda ! ... Im waiting to see what h/d says my self . ?

It's hard for me to understand why some would trust the factory to assemble a bike, but not a HD dealership. This problem started at the FACTORY.

Some of you have obviously had very bad experiences with the techs at your dealers. I have used three different dealers for repairs and service and I have had good experiences with all of them.

I have more trust in one of the techs at Wabash HD in Terra Haute than myself or anyone else I have met so far when it comes to working on my scoot.

broken frame? where was it broke at? a missing weld? how does a broken frame come out of the factory with out someone seeing it? was it broke from the factory or did it break after you bought it?
give us something to look for

If you actually met some of the guys that tear down the bikes at the plant, you would probably rather have them send the bike in pieces to a dealer and have the TRAINED TECHNICIAN put the bike together. Had it been caught on the line, the bike would've been torn down and basically a different bike would be built with the same components, no different than the technician doing it at the dealership really. I do feel your concern about the split frame but as you said, mistakes happen. I've seen missed welds on more than one occasion that were caught in the factory so it's only in due time that some get out. The bad thing is, they need to go back to the date the bike was offlined (not the build date) and see if any other bikes have the same missed weld, but that's not possible since the bikes are already out the door.

Post your build date and build # if you have it. Maybe some of the other guys within 50 bikes +/- of yours are on here too and they can check their frames.

I hope they track down the robot that missed that weld and dock it a quart of 10w40.
