Well, haven't been there since 02 but we are heading back. We are planning on being out there for about 4 days. What sites do you guys recommend? Last time we did Rushmore, Bad Lands, and Custer State Park. We also spent one night at the "Chip". That in and of it self was an experience. Last time I rode out on a Honda Shadow ACE 750. Actually was not too bad from Indiana. Anyway, this year will be considerably better with the Street Glide. I appreciate any ideas. TO the rest of you that are going, ride safe and see you there.
We go to Rushmore only when there's a newbee in the group that hasn't seen it (we have 2 this year...sigh...but it's breathtaking no matter how many times you've seen it). The badlands I saw once...that's enough. Did you go to Hulet on Wednesday and then to Sundance for the burnout festival? There's some nice restaurants in Spearfish. There's a nice bar there...the Slilver Dollar I think we always go in there. Do yourself a favor one year, take 2 extra days and go to Cody Wy. and ride the Beartooth Highway...it's like nothing you've ever seen. Wall Drug is cool if you have an opportunity to stop in there. The all Harley drags at the sppedway is worth the time.
I'll be taking the same trail as IN glide. Last year was my first year and it rained the day I was going to the tourist traps, so didn't make it. Tues night at the Chip probably, and yes, it is an experience....all good.
Enjoy and ride safe.
My oldest son and I are leaving for the Black Hills this Sunday. He won't be able to make the rally due to work.
The wife and I will be heading out on the 31st from Wisconsin, only 650 miles.
We've been going for over 20 years and find something new everytime we go.
Attention - roads to be closed this coming weekend
Just received this from a friend headed to Sturgis. Might want to pay attention...

I was a little concerned when we stayed at the Chip. I was riding a Honda Shadow 750 and my buddy had a Yamaha R1. Not one person said a thing to us about our bikes. Great crowd.
Instead of falling asleep to the sounds of crickets, we fell asleep to the chants comning from across the campground of "Show your T**S". Definitely an experience I will never forget.
