i dig my rinehart slip ons. have had them on my last few harleys, and they have a deep sound that sorta just has a great thump to them. the end caps used to turn to a copper sort of color, because they were anodized black. now they're powedercoated or a different product that does not change color at all. they can be ridden quietly, as you can control how loud they are with the throttle. at cruise, no problem hearing the stereo. and if you want them to really bark, all ya gotta do is yank the chain, they rock.
The SE are a good deal @325+,but still have cat's inside. If i upgrade, why not make a difference.I'm looking into reiny's,pricy but a good middle of the road.If i find the cash,it seems like they double in 6 months..02 cts
The SE mufflers do not have catalytic converters.
Compared to the stock mufflers they have a little throatier sound at idle. There is even more of a difference running the bike out. For me they are just right, if they were any louder I'd take them off and go back to stock. The Monster Ovals are louder yet and many like them, but I know of at least one person that felt the Monsters were too loud and took them off. He then went with SE's.
I HAVE THEM ON MY 09 ULTRA WITH 103 KIT QUIET BUT WHEN YOU ARE IN THE THROTTLE THEY SOUND GOOD. I really had not put much thought in a muffler choice at time of purchase but I am happy with them. If I did it over I would go with the rienharts especially on a road king with the curved drop down tips bad to the bone.
You know what my parts guy did the same thing, he explained that he has had som many complaints about the SE mufflers he could not recommend them. He told me that they were only slightly louder than stock and just were not woth the money.
I have delt with the guy for quite some time so I took a pass.

I have the slash down SE Tour's on my RoadGlide. I had them on my EGC I just traded in. I like the pipes so much I took them off my EGC and put them on my RG. I think these pipes are perfect. As we all know sound is a choice to everyone but for me these fit the bill for a tour bike.
