Will do!! We started this week looking at SG. Well we took a ride on one at a dealer! It took about 3 miles and the wife nixed the SG!! She hated it ! Said it was like riding on the fender without a seat!! I have to admit I was surprised at the way it took any little bump in the road!! It did'nt!! So we are looking at the EG/EGC!!!
just did the quick detach kit on my 08 and the antenna "system" leaves alot too be desired in my opinion; it has an adapter for when the tourpack is on. you have to unscrew the antenna off the the pack ,take off the adapter and scrwe the antrnna back on the bike. ill be putting a hidden antenna on under the fairing .
I would suguest you ride it a while with the tour pac on....most wouldn't be without it, I wouldn't....like most said, I gots way too much stuff to take it off...don't get wrong, It looks sweet with it off, but the convience of having it and my junk with me outweighs taking it off....
And getting off and on with the tour pac isn't an issue, easy stuff and I have a 28" inseam.....if I can, anyone can...oh I also have a drivers backrest.
After you use the pak a few times you may never bother to take it off. Buy the bike and wait a few weeks before you do anything...just may save half a grand.
I have had the Tour Pac off of my Ultra several times. It was nice for short trips with just me. If I have a woman, It requires the Tour Pac so they have room for the suitcase they carry.
I have Sirius Satellite radio on the handlebar. It does not mater if I have he Terrestrial radio antenna connected. Before I had the Satellite radio, I had a strip Antenna inside the Fairing. Non amplified and taped to the top inside of the Fairing.
Own '09 Ultra myself as I will keep the tour-pak on at all times cuz it comes in handy for so many reasons even though detachable tour-pak looks so sweet lookin' like an Street Glide, but.... :dunno:
Only time mine is on is if I am traveling. If you're carring that much junk around in your daily travels, Where do you put the stuff you need for a trip????
It sounds like the SG you tried did not have the shocks adjusted to the proper level. Have the dealer put the proper amount of air in them for a two up load and then try it. My wife and I equal a load over 400lbs and she has no problems. I also have a detachable tour-pac for the SG. I don't use it often, but it comes in handy for long trips. Most of the time it stays home. Most of the time the wife and I use a detachable backrest and not the tour-pac for two up. Yeah, the EGC makes more sense financially, but I wanted an SG for the looks. I'm very satisified with my decision. If I had bought the EGC, I would have second thoughts every time I saw a Street Glide go by. By the way, I used to have an EGC. I liked that bike too, but only as a second choice to the SG.
