It seems I have been reading exhausts threads on here for 2 weeks solid to determine which 2 into 1 to purchase to finish out my 103 upgrade. Of course there are MANY opinions but I haven't quite hit on the answer to my question.
I am looking for the best low to mid range torque without blowing the windows out of my neighbors' houses with noise. Have owned the sport bikes and sport touring bikes so high end speed is not my thing any longer or I would not have purchased my first Harley (which btw I love), one of those super ugly 2009 Road Glides (have I said which btw I love).
I was closing in on the D&D Fatcat or the Supertrapp Supermeg when I read that the Supermeg was better for HP and high end than low-mid range torque.
Any claims as to best low-mid range torque 2 into 1 with reasonable sound and is there really any significant difference between the 2 into 1 pipes?
I'm looking at the Supertrapp Supermeg for my Street Glide, too.
Go back and look at the information on the Supermeg again-- They come with 20 disks. If all 20 are installed, the pipe is louder and the power curve is maximized for horsepower at the top end. Fewer disks are quieter, and increase torque. Take a look at:
It seems that most tuners tend to settle on 12-14 disks to get the most out of a build involving heads and 103+" bore kits.
By the way -- I'm not selling anything, but I've been doing research on getting the most out of the money I'll be spending on gettin my engine upgraded. Several of the 2 into 1 pipes will help you get more out of any engine.
The 2/1 Supertrap is probaly your best bet. I have the S&S 510 cams, and the Thunderheaders are crazy load. I going with the Supertraps when the funds are avalable. Tires first, then pipes.
I really like my Fat Cat, it makes a nice flat torque curve and it comes on early. I included a copy of one of my dyno charts.
My bike is a 96" with a good aircleaner, FatCat and a HQ500 cam and a SERT and it hauls.
I got the supertrapp meg on a 103 with HQ 575 cams , SE heads
will pick up fresh build this week and let you know how it sounds
dealer doesnt want to beat it on the dyno until I put some miles on it
I am running 103 with D&D Fatcat standard baffle. Will let you know how it sounds once I pick it up hopefully on Friday. I will have a break in dyno on it when I get it back, will come back to post some numbers then.
I've had 9 different exhausts on 4 years................3 of them were 2-1 systems, and I ended up keeping the Fatcat with quiet baffle. Top notch performance, sound, and fit-n-finish.
I have heard excellent things about tuning the Fatcat. I personal am partial to the Thunderheader. Sounds great and performs, cant seem to pull the trigger on anything else. Fatcat quality is probably better though. Ive had a couple heat shields break on the Thunderheader. I guess the new Fatcat is much louder than previous models???? They will all perform great..its all about personal choice man. Good luck
