Default Klock 8" Flare question.

I have a question for all of you non-SE Road Glide owners, that have installed a Klock Werks 8" Flare windishield. Do you need to reinstall the rubber trim strip (gasket) on the windshields base? The folks at Klock Werks tell me no -- just want to see if anyone has installed it without it. If not, what is the purpose of the gasket any way? I'm guessing it's to keep water and/or wind from entering beneath the windshield.

I'm looking to install the 8" Flare on an '09 Road Glide, standard version.

Thanks.

it looks like crap IMO without the gasket, and you will get a little more water inside the inner fairing without it if it rains, but no it does not HAVE to be there.
