Well after reading many treads and listening/watching several sound clip/videos, I've decided to go with with the Rush slip ons with the 1.75 baffles. I didn't want anything loud, just a little rumble over stock, which would mellow out on the highway for my 97 Road King. I hear that Rush is now installing better packing around their baffles, question is, do I take a chance and buy them from the dealer or order them from Fuelmoto with the new silient Sport packing. My second choice for slip ons was the S & S SPO Ovals, but I like the looks of the Rush mufflers and have heard more positive coments about them.
I have Rush 1.75 on mine softail, I love them. I repacked mine by going to a metric/BMX shop. Bought a sheet of material and wrapped them around the baffles. Pulled them out about 5,000 miles later to check on them and they were all there. I Rush uses pieces of batting and the exhaust blows them out the end. They are a lot louder than stock on take off and acceleration, but tone down nicely when cruising.
Get the Rush you'll be happier.
I got them on my 07EG Classic, with 2" baffles
Sound is great at cruising and when you get on them you'll really hear your motor wake up
Thanks for the response on the Rush mufflers guys, it's good to hear from someone who's owned and had experience with them. My Road King is a 97 with the 1340/80 engine, so the volume of sound on the pipes may be a little less than that of a 88 or 96 cu engine, will find out soon.
I`ve got Rivco slipons on my `09 Road Glide. 2in. baffles sounded stock. 2.5in. were too quiet also. Took the matting out and slid the baffles in backwards and now it sounds like a Harley. Can here the tunes good at any speed and she snorts nice when throttled up. I hear a lot of other baggers around town and they are about the same. I was surprised how much the matting deadens the sound and like it much better with it out.
2" Rush on my '08 R/G for 15k miles.....doesn't wake anyone when leaving
home at o'dark-thirty, but once on the open roads the bark
is deep and not overly loud.
A sure headturner when cruising thru town, as they sound different than
the usual run-of-the-mill 'loud harley'
Toonz are still audible at hiway speeds.....
I would not hesitate to put these on my next bike ( if I ever buy a next bike !!)
