PC5 Problem?
'09 FLHTP with PC5 bogs down at anything more than 1/3 throttle. Just finished a 1600 mile ride up to Northern Maine and have some real issues!
Here are symptoms ...
* Uneven idle after cold start (pulses ea 3-5 seconds between 900-1200 rpm) No fault codes.
* Below approx 4000 rpm (in all gears), the engine bogs down completely at anything greater than 1/3 throttle opening. Twisting the throttle produces intake and exhaust noise, but NO power. Can't go up a slight incline at more than 55 mph.
* Above approx 4000 rpm, she runs fine at any throttle setting. This indicates to me that there are no problems with fuel delivery (ie, pump, filter, injectors, etc).
* Problem has been present since I installed the PC5 last month. I initially thought it was caused by moisture I found in the PC5 harness connectors, but after drying and applying dilectric grease, the problem persists. Could liberal amounts of dilectric grease be causing shorts between the pin connectors like moisture would?
I'm scheduling an appointment with a great dyno-tuner at Black Hills in NJ. In the meantime, any suggestions?
Thanks!

Unless you installed or set it up incorrectly, which I highly doubt, you have a bad PCV. You'll have to send it back to Power Commander for a swap out. I"m not knocking the PCV but this is not the first thread about one giving the rider fits.
Check and make sure none of the connector pins are belt or otherwise not making good contact. Another forum member had a similar problem with their PCV recently and this was the source.
Also, try removing the PCV temporarily and see if the problem persists.

I guess we can assume that you installed both of the O2 eliminators.
Also, just thought, but do you have other bikes or have you ever had a PCIII with the software already installed on your laptop? I had that problem and found that a software conflict resulted in the wrong map being downloaded. The fix was to uninstall the PCIII software and reinstall the PCV software.

These are very interesting issues which we have never seen with the PC-V and I am certain it is not the map unless the OP has changed from what we provided. A possible issue may be the throttle position settings which may have been reset incorrectly. I recommend plugging in the PC to the USB software, starting the bike and getting it up to operating temp and checking the closed throttle position also noting the % value which will move as you rev the throttle. Please give us a call and we can help out and if needed we can get the unit back and test it on our 09 bike.

Jamie brings up a good point on the TP setting. If you click on Reset with a TBW bike the TP setting will be far off base. While the bike is running and the PCV connected to the computer, go to PC Tools > Calibrate > Throttle Position and look at the voltage readings. They should read near the following, and if not enter these values:
Closed throttle 0.700 (Minimum Voltage)
Open throttle 4.300 (Maximum Voltage)
Closed throttle 0.700 (Minimum Voltage)
Open throttle 4.300 (Maximum Voltage)
