Layed the 2009 SG down last Wednesday while turning right into the access gate at work. 0630 hours and dark, never saw the metal plate in the road....it took the front wheel out while turning. Here I am sliding across the road like I am riding normal wondering why my elbow hurts and my foot is squished. Realize that me and my baby are in the wrong attitude and kick away from her before she bites. Tore a hole in the elbow and scratched the bag.....all easily fixed. A little sanding and touch up paint on the bag. Tried to pull the chunk of hanging flest from the elbow ....man skin is tough...lol. Ended up getting scissors and sniping it off. Cleaned the wound out and threw a bandaid on it. Got back on the bike and went to work...then got spooked for a day or two. Thinking about giving it up and went for ride today.
Then the blood reminded me why. Thoughts of quitting and the spooked feeling left.....welcome back she says...lol
Yep, I Don't like railroad tracks, metal grates, cattle crossings, and the slick white road paint! Glad you are OK. Lesson learned the hard way I guess. Ride on my friend.
Everyone gets caught eventually. There are three type of riders, those who have layed it down, those who will lay it down, and those who layed it down but pretend they never did.
I gently layed mine over in the driveway once when my foot slipped on the loose gravel. Went down nice and slow though. Got it right back up after. Pride is the biggest casualty of these events.
Basically you're ok, and the bike is all fixable. If you really love riding, this won't stop you....but these little hic-ups can make you a better rider. Welcome aboard, and ride safe.
driveway is brick & on a hill...got off...bike almost straight up & down...seemed ok...got off to open the garage door...hear a CRASH...she fell over still running,,,think the vibration caused it...lesson learned!

Better than running into the back of a car.............trust me on this!
I spilled in '80 in the rain on a secondary 4 lane concrete road at 45mph; semi truck passed me, I took full spray and the last vision I had before skipping like a flat rock was the white shoulder stripe as it crossed under the front tire.
Bike did OK I got a little road rash but luckily the road was sheeted wet and I spent more time sliding than grinding. One other fatal mistake, don't try to stand until the sliding stops, tumbling never was one of my strong points. Not a bad laydown but I ached for two weeks after.
