I'm getting a $2,700 price difference between the Ultra Classic vs. the Ultra Classic Limited with custom color ($24,899 vs. $22,199). If you take into account Security ($370) and ABS ($845), and don't consider the heated hand grips, badging, etc. then Harley is asking $1,485 for the 103 upgrade.
So what would one typically expect to pay for the 103 upgrade? Perhaps this isn't such a bad deal.
I did roughly the same math and didn't think it was that bad of a deal. But...still not enough to make me trade up yet.
IMHO, this is the best of the 2010 bikes they have come out with. I am not going to trade my 2009 Street Glide (would you trade a 2009 car for a 2010?), but I do think the value is there with the options already installed.
I guess I'm in the minority. I like the bike, but that two-tone setup the way it is on that model just doesn't do a thing for me. The two-tone Ultras look much better IMHO.
This forum is killing me. I said when I bought my bike I was leaving it stock, because it already had everything. I waited almost a year, bought a skull cover for the air cleaner, then my wife got me some highway pegs with skulls. I saw some really nice chrome skull speaker covers so I got them. Wanted a little more room for my feet so got extension from Soos front and back. Heard some Superflow Max 2's and loved them, so on they went. Was getting ready for Sturgis, so had to have the premium luggage rack. It's slowly adding up. So much for stock, I guess the motor is starting to need some things now (sigh)
$4k for a 103 motor and heated grips? Must be something else to justify the price other than a different tank badge and some different guages? Maybe they just wanted a midway between the Ultra and the SE Ultra?
I do see standard ABS and Cruise, and i do like the 2-tone paint schemes, but $25K?
I came up with $1486 more than a comparably equipped Ultra. For that $1486 you get a 103" engine, chrome wheels, heated grips, and a luggage rack. Seems like a good deal to me. My 103" Stage 2 kit cost that much.
