it doesn't even have to be that loud to set them off. its not the loudness, its the sound pressure. a bike with high, tinny drag pipes will set off fewer alarms than a bike with quiet, deep, low, pipes....

I do this every chance I get. I come into work about 5:30 in the morning and go through a really crappy section prior to getting downtown Pittsburgh. I absolutely love cracking it open in the morning going through there!
Another favorite is riding downtown because the sound bounces off the buildings, making it sound even louder! I also get to watch myself in the mirrored glass being obnoxious. Scares the hell out of the folks waiting for a bus. F'em.
