Is there a way to override the key FOB. The guy didn't have the manual, or he couldn't find it. If you lose you FOB or the battery goes dead, what do you do?
yes its in the book and on a card i carry in my wallet u use the turn signals to enter a code, thats also on my wallet card, im not sure but i think theres a overide code if u dont know the code.
Turn ignition on. Press L & R turn signal switches at the same time to get ----- in the ODO display. Press left turn signal switch to advance the number. Press right switch to advance to next space and repeat until the security code is entered. If you don't know the code, you're screwed.... (maybe not, but I'm pretty sure it would involve a trip to the dealer).

"IF" you owned a Harley - You would have an "owners manual". With it you would have the "code". And you would be able to overide it. The manual would tell you how.

I bought mine used. I didn't have a manual. Had to buy the part number Dawg just gave. There's no telling what a previous owner has done. Mine had a lot of little things screwed up on it. Then again, I installed my security myself and had HD assign the fobs and put in the PIN. Got that little card in my wallet.
Bought a disc on E-bay for $2.00 its the whole HD Touring Manual for my bike in PDF format. I put it on my laptop as well as my desk top. Kept the disc as backup as well. It also tells you how to program the security codes, overrides etc.

no, you're not screwed. there is a procedure, that is slightly different than the override procedure that will show you what your code is. but, you do have to have the fob working and with you in order to do it.
after that, you can (and should) change the code to whatever you want.
Make sure you are NOT on the bike when you overide it also. It is easier to do standing next to the bike so the security system isnt flashing. At least that has been my experience. Also if you send me a private note I will tell you what the new ones are set at from the factory, maybe the previous owner never changed it. I would post here but the site may not want it posted for theft reasons.
