Default Threaded frame hole ?
On both sides there are threaded holes (1/2"?) on the upper frame tubes under the seat & right over the side covers. Pre 09 at least, anyone know what these are or were used for?

Heat deflectors? Miine seem to have a knack for holding rust. I use qtips and wd-40 to remove. It looks like surface rust.

I don't think that it would be for heat deflectors. They are in a spot that would appear to be too far back and high for that. It almost makes me think it was a carry over from previous year seat mountings or something like that.
