I just go back from a 2950 mile trip and had a great time, but I came to a sad realization - my FatCat is just too damn loud for that kind of saddle time. Can anybody give me some ideas of what they are using for a good performance pipe that won't cost me much (any) power from my high output 113 but will run a little quieter? I really don't care if I go with another 2 into 1 or a 2 into 1 into 2. Any help would be really appreciated.
Oh yeah, I will have a Fat Cat for sale in a little bit with the big bore baffle and the quiet performance baffle.
I to do a good bit of long distance riding including a few Iron Butts and found the rush mufflers I had were way too loud. althoug perhaps a little too quiet, I have since put the SE big can (4") mufflers on both my 07 and 08b. They were take offs and didn't reak the bank. I am however running stock motors and intakes. These may have too much back pressure for your needs.
See what you can find out about the 2010 2-1s. Also, I learned that Harley has 2-1s in their Screaming Eagle catalog. Don't know anything about them yet, but they must be intended for the 110s.
I know what you mean about loud pipes...real cool around town, but they'll drive you nuts on long trips. I installed HD Touring Mufflers #65259-00 on my Ultra. They're slightly louder than stock pipes.
There is a new muffler system recently introduced by Bub Enterprises in response to the EPA concerns. According to the information, it is a performance exhaust system that meets the 50 state EPA requirement. I don't know of anyone running them yet since they are so new. Might be worth taking a look at them.
I have Vance & Hines Monster Ovals and they give a nice sound but they are pretty mellow, some people get disappointed in that they are not loud enough. Works for me, too loud would get in the way of a ride. Good luck with your search.
