With ya all the way! The $65 HF lift will get ya by. Sturdy/inexpensive. I bought mine when I got a nail in my new front tire. Of course it has a damn tube, so I decided to pull it and take to Indy. Saved an hour of labor and spent the $ on the lift. I have used it enuff now to pay for itsef.

The red Craftsman works for me. Inexpensive and good quality. Safe, strong, simple.

Just BE SURE whatever you get is low enough when collapsed, to slide under your frame. Otherwise you'll be rigging some way to get your bike a couple of inches higher in order to slide it under...a big hassle.

J&S for me. Rock solid. Much better than my old Sears red sled. Works with my Wheeldock center stand too.

Hey jberg, what kind of problems/concerns with the Sears Red did you have? I don't use mine much at all...are they really no good? Or do you just like your J&S better?

I don't want to be using something that is going to give me troubles in some way. So far, so good though.

Thanks man!

I've heard the J&S is very good, but a little pricey. Pittbull is slightly more money. Yellow jack from Sears had some good comments. I wish J&S would have a sale!!!!

Using the Sears yellow jack at the moment. Will be getting a 'true' lift very soon though. Much easier to work on the bike on one of these: http://handy-lift.com/index.cfm?mf=b...0%20Air%20Lift

Pitbull for me. Full 25 inches of lift. Zerks on all moving parts. No worries without tiedowns. Expensive but worth it to me.

I had also heard very good things about J & S so it was initially a coinflip between the two. I e-mailed both companys to ask some questions and got this reply from Heika, owner of Pitbull MC Lifts and decided to go with them.

Mr. Clint,

Thank you for your email. I would like to give you a little more information on our company and lifts. We are a family owned and operated business that has been manufacturing lifts for 20 years. We manufacture nothing but Pitbull Motorcycle Lifts and are the forerunners in the business. We lifetime warranty all our work and you get the best lift on the market. Our lifts raise the bike 25 inches (which is the tallest lift of its style) and to give you an example of how stable the bike is without any tie downs, I could climb up and sit on the bike and I weigh over 200 lbs. We do however have "D" Rings located in each corner on the lift giving you convenient tie off points. Some other things that separates us from other lifts:

1) Pitbull is the only lift on the market that is grease fitted anywhere a bolt goes through the steel tubing. Most other lifts are lucky to even have greasable wheels much less pivot points. The reason we grease ours is simple, we lifetime warranty the product and don't want to have to worry about that, and in 18 years we have never had a bolt break or a pivot point wear out, no other lift company can say that.

2) We use the heaviest, largest casters of all lifts, makes it extremely easy to roll the lift with your bike on it. Most lifts use very small diameter, narrow wheels that just don't roll with the weight of a bike on them.

3) We use a 6 ton cylinder on our manual units, most others use a 4 ton or smaller.

4) Our lifts come with a free pull handle to make it even easier to position the lift. A lot of other lifts you buy this separate if they even have it.

5) Our lifts are by far the most stable lifts of this type on the market and have been rated #1 by several national publications and has never been beat out by any other lift company in these shootouts.

Now, I would like to answer your question.

1) Does
Pitbull use imported bottle jacks for their system or are they American made?

A) The jacks we use on our lifts are purchased from and assembled by a company in Kansas City, MO. But some of the parts do come from outside the USA. Upon constant searching, we have found it impossible to find a jack company that not only assembles the jacks in the US, but also gets all of the necessary components here in the USA as well.

If you have any other questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us again. We are here to help in any way we can. Thank you again and we look forward to hearing from you soon. Have a great weekend!!

Sincerely,
Hieka Watson

For my vote ,I don't think you can go wrong with either Pitbull or J & S.
