I did a lotta reading on the SE forum and they all raved about the Hogtunes so I got them front and back. Believe me, you wont need anything more then the stock radio and Hogtune speakers!

Hi Mac Thanks for the avtar. My hd service manager put a eclipse radio in, 200 w amp and infinity speakers. When i brought my bagger in and had him listen to my stock radio/cd player with my delphi road ready 2 playing through my HOGTUNES he was blown away. He went right over to the computer to order a set but there on back order. You get alot more volume with these speaker. SAVE MONEY buy the HOGTUNE SPEAKERS-$ 100.00- road ready 2 xm sat radio ( got mine on ebay new for $61.00) plays right thru your fm radio and with the extra money buy some more chrome !!!!!!http://www.hogtunes.com/

I got the Roady II for my Classic. $94.00 from Wallyworld. I had an extra power point put in for the XM so I can use the Cig. Lighter plug for the cell phone charger.

Regards,

Bill

Thanks for all the input fellas.

You have made my decision pretty simple. I wish that I could find a radio without the speakers and save there, I would do it. I will order the standard radio and the HOGTUNE speakers. I'm guessing the impedence on the stock speakers is too high and the the Hogtune speakers is lower - thus more efficient.

The Delphi is without a doubt the way to go, I'm sold on XM, and I agree, I don't think that a regular car radio is equiped for direct weather impacts the way we hope the Harley radio is.

I will order the radio tonight, and place an order for the HOGTUNE speakers as well. I will search for a radio/cd combo w/o the speakers though I'm not hopeful. The only hope I have is that perhaps there is a stock number for a replacement radio ONLY, vice the radio with speakers....

Anyone heard of this?

Mac

Mac,

The HD dealer should be able to give you info on just the radio. I am sure they have a way to get the radio as a replacement for a defective one, or to replace one damaged in a crash.

You probably won't be able to get the Hogtunes speakers until after May 1. They are on back order. I e mailed them requesting a notification as soon as they had them available to ship.

Regards,

Bill

Mac,

Not sure where you are planning to order your radio from, but I've recently placed two orders through www.zanottimotor.com for various HD stuff. Prices are at least 20% off of retail, and even more on some items. I have no affiliation with the company, just don't want folks to spend more than they have to.

Regards,
Rick

Just checked their price, not as cheap as www.mandmcycles.com

I can't seem to find just the radio for cheaper than the radio and the speakers, so I guess I'll have an extra set of speakers...either way, I'm ordering the Hogtune speakers tonight as well...I'm hoping they will let me back order them.

I just ordered the speakers, I'm still hoping to find a radio/cd player for less than the price of the radio/cd player with speakers. If I don't find one before tomorrow morning, I'm ordering up!

Just ordered the radio from MandMcycles. I talked to the SUI guys (sponsors) to the right, but were unable to keep up with prices. They showed a pretty good solution with a Sony radio and an adapter that allows you to use the handle bar switches. Wasn't what I wanted to so I went with what I knew...the HD radio.

Next question I have is this...what to do about the antenna? Is there a way to put the antenna inside my bat wing fairing? I don't want the full sized HD antenna, and I remember talk of using a shorty from Radio shack or the like...

Mike, I will definitely be in MB the Saturday before July 4th through the Saturday after July 4th. We go every year, and meet a bunch of people for the same time period. (about 30 or so). Been doing it for nearly 10 years, some of them have been doing it for 20+ years. I haven't figured out the details on the ride part yet, and I'm not sure if I will do that, but I'm at about 85% positive I will. If you want to try and catch up with me, that would be great, we'll be staying at the Bar Harbor Motor Inn on 2nd Street.

Any thoughts on the Antenna would be much appreciated.

Mac
