I decided to take a little ride this afternoon and it about got cut short about a mile from home.
Was riding on a four lane street with angle parking on both sides.
A car coming the other way turned left at speed in front of me without signaling or slowing down. I hit the brakes hard and the abs kicked in and I could hear the tires chirping, I stopped and he parked and didn't even look over. I don't think he saw me through the whole thing.
I wanted to turn around and give him a piece of my mind, but I was so worked up, I figured I would end up in jail if I got face to face with him, so I went a couple, blocks, turned around and went back home. Ruined my ride and I needed to calm down.
This is my first experience with a left turner, normally people try to come into my lane all of the time and I'm used to that, but this shook me up and it took about 30 minutes for my pulse to return to normal.
I'm not sure if the abs on my SG helped or not, but I didn't go down and didn't hit the car, so I'm happy either way.
WOW! Glad you're ok. That is the number one killer of us bikers by the inattentive cagers. It's amazing how it seems they look right at you and still turn.
I applaud you for keeping a cool head and doing all the right things. pulled off the xpressway last week turned into some stop and go traffic and a bozo in a van changed lanes in front of me which wasn't an issue the issue was this duffus had no stop lights luckily for me I was far enough back when I realized he was stopping at first I thought he was fixing to rear end the car in front of him.stay defensive and look out for the bozos.
