I am most likely heading up to the Adirondacks this weekend. However, being a spur of the moment decision I will get a late start today after work. And I want to camp at least tonight somewhere along maybe rt 209 or around the higher end of the Delaware Gap either side of the Gap or maybe in the Catskills. I am looking for raw land no camp site just pitch a tent along the beaten path w/ maybe a creek near by...anyone got a spot they could spare/share.
I've done the same thing...use to live in phily..go along 32 thru the gap to Port Jervis then over to the catskills then adirondacks... I've camped along the delaware river north of the gap...between Bushkill and dingmans ferry.. This was 15 yrs ago but it was one of those deals saw a nice "turnoff" checked it out and it worked out.
Sorry can't be any more specific.
Also round out reservior in NY off 209.. I stopped there and put my foot down on my old sportster and my foot went into a 1 foot deep hole, i went over and the bike went over...20yds up the road was a forest dirt road, pushed it into the woods, found a level spot and ended up being a great camp spot too.
Adirondacks stayed at campgrounds to get a shower...
You shouldn't have to much trouble finding a good spot
Enjoy

katobird, I looked at your thoughts and they are right down my alley for camping trips and I will persue these ideas...
I ran out of time as the day went on Friday, I ended up getting up at 5 am Sat. w/ my 10 year old, and we scooted up to Schroon Lake NY. Hung out on the beach of the lake and rode around the Adirondack region. Got a place up there and came home the next morning...
