Auxilary Switch Question
First of all, I want to thank you guys for all the information on this site, it is awesome. Lots of very knowledgeable people here, so I knew this is the place to ask my question.
I did a search on the site to look for an answer and found several threads where a similar question was asked, but never answered.
I have an 02 Road King Classic and I decided to mount some LED driving lights on the crash bar. I took the headlight off to look at the wiring that goes to the auxiliary switch mounted below the bars. I found the switch and I found that it had two wires going to it and one blank space for another wire. I tested it and found that the blank space was energized with 12 volts when the ignition was in the on position. When I flipped the auxiliary switch, the power to the blank space was cut off. I thought perfect; I will just solder the power wire to the blank space and be good to go although I did not understand why there were already two wires going to the switch. I wired it in and it seems to work except that after I had it all done, I realized that the driving lights only turn on when the switch is in the Off position and they turn off when the switch is in the On position.
Does anyone know why the lights would only work when the switch is in the Off position. Why does the switch already have two wires going to it? Are the new lights protected by a fuse in the fuse block?
Thanks in advance for the help!
-Eric
