It's normal, but after all of these years, it d@mn sure shouldn't be!
+1
I know a gal that works at Harley and she told me two years ago that this was one of the biggest complaints HD's customer service gets. You'd think they would maybe consider fixing this...like maybe over the past few years when they re-designed all models???
My dealer replaced the speedo, under warranty, because of the moisture. Official MOCO response is that it is normal, but if it causes a discoloration it is covered. I couldn't see any discoloration. They said they have a special light that will highlight the issue. Don't know about that, but they did replace it, no charge.
My '09 did it for the first time this past weekend after I washed it. Irritating being that I make sure I do not stream water directly at the guages but of course alot splashes up on them. My '03 superglide had this problem as well. Seems like they could put sealed guages on bikes in this price range. I don't see how it could be that more expensive.

Has the new speedo developed any moisture since it was replaced. They're clearly not airtight....depend on the gasket around the guage...seems to me that it's just a design flaw and a new speedo should be expected to do the same thing. My '08 Deluxe does the same... decided to not pay attention to it. If it gets sig worse... may be an issue for me though!
The gauges on my Road King Classic did it, the gauges on my '09 Ultra Classic does it. The electronic components inside of the gauges are sealed. The case itself is not hermetically sealed. If they were, the cost for gauges would be a lot more.
