Smile D402's

Okay i've looked thru several different sites about Dunlops and I have to know what there smokin and where I can get some!!! I have an 08 Electra GLide Classic and @ 6200 miles the rear tire is shot! No burn outs, check tire pressure weekly, set R@36-37 and F@34. Had dunlops on my Roadstar and @ 4k miles it was almost shot!!! I did switch to Metzler 880 Marathon's which @ 4500 miles still looked almost new! But from what I see there isn't alot of choices out there that will give me a "77" load rating. 880's,Night Dragon,ELite 3's??? can anyone give my some assistance with this and does anyone have a decent used 402 that I could use for about 2-3k miles? I hate to replace both tires now when the front still has at least 50% left. Thanx!!!!

6200 miles seems pretty low...On the 402's I get around 12 to 15 K out of my rear tire and replaced the front tire at 30K. I've heard some good things about the E3's but, since I've had no issues with the 402's I continue to run with those. Don't replace both...buy a new rear and by the time that ones worn out it'll be time to replace the front...I normally replace the front tire every other rear tire change.

By the way welcome to the forum...

how much weight are you hauling on the bike? 1 or 2 up, hom much in the bags, the 402 is max rated at 827 lbs, the bikes dry weight on the rear is 371 lbs, add gas riders and gear and that tire is gonna wearout fast, pa roads are very course with a lot of curvers and hills which also wear tires out, most bikes i work on average 6000 miles for rear with all brands

I run 40 rear and 38 front.....got 11k on my 08 ultra and that was loaded 2 up and all gear for a trip from pgh to Arkansas and a trip this year from pgh to sturgis and back. I just stopped at the tire store at south park area, Jeff is the owners name. $182 for an installed and balanced rear E3.

Well I'm just smok'in Marlboro's and drink'n Pepsi, and have no issues with My 08UC orginal Dunlop's. Mi. 18,543. Treads on front and Rear look Great. About 60% wear. I plan on replacing them next spring with about 6,000 more miles on them.

wow man, the d402's suck. i still got the d402 on the front of my 08 streetglide, but won't change it out till it's ready to be replaced. no reason to replace the front till it's worn and ready for replacement. i put the elite 3 on, and the rain grooves and poor traction are a thing of the past. they wear a whole lot longer so the guys in the know, say. it made a huge improvement on my bike. the mu90-16 for the rear, and mt90-16 for the front. and the stock d402 will be replaced with the elite 3 when it's low on tead.quit goofin around with the 402's and replace only the rear if that's what you need. good price at dennis kirk ... mine for the rear was $111, plus the five dollar charge for the additional shipping cause it's a bulky item. free shipping included, but with paying the five bux additional not a big deal. no more wiggle in the rear end of your bike on rain grooves or irregular pavement. more miles per tire. win/win all the way with the elite 3 tires.

I have 16K on my current D402 and it's not quite ready to be replace yet. I ride a pretty even mix of Hwy/Secondary roads and Solo/2UP. I keep my tires at R40 and F36.

Could it possible be an alignment issue that wears the tires so quick?
