Default 08 Street Glide Service

I'm looking at buying an 08 Street Glide from a guy with 5800 miles on it. He appears to be very knowledgable and picky about his bikes. The bike is immaculate.

My concern is that he has not used HD for the 1000 and 5000 mile services. He said he has done both and that it's a waste of money when he can do it himself. He cares enough to put Amsoil in the bike and it certainly looks well cared for.

I'm wondering if this is really a big deal as far as warranty goes? What should I ask him about maintenance? I realize this is mostly preventive maintenance.

This is the only concern I have about the bike. He has it listed for a great price.

Appreciate your thoughts...
Thanks

Banks

Not a big deal. Several do their own maintenance. It will not affect the warranty. If he is that immaculate, he should have saved his receipts.

As was said, many do their own maintenance on their bikes. Most of the maint. procedures are fairly easy so why pay somebody else 100.00 just to change your oil and another 100.00+ to have them inspect and lube (which I sometimes wonder if they really do it). If your that worried just buy the bike if it's a great deal and take it in for the nearest recommended maintenance. He sounds like a great and normal owner.

If you take it, bring it in for a 5k at whatever dealer you'll be using normally. Then you're "on record" with it if nothing else.

But I'd imagine if he's that picky with it, it'd be fine... Although I'd wonder why he's getting rid of the most perfect bike HD ever made...

Absolutely agree, I do my own and figure I do a better job!
