I totaled my 07 Electra Glide Classic a month ago by hitting a deer at about 50mph. I now have the Ultra Limited and travel in deer country here in Ohio. I want something to LIGHT up the road. Would love to hear what others have done to accomplish this. Thanx all and I LOVE this new bike.
Hello, fellow Buckeye. I ride in deer country out here in Ashtabula county all the time. It seems the deer want to just stare into bright lights, so I use my horn more often. I also know the times they are more active, which is early morn (about 4:30) and early eve ( about dusk ), stay safe, use your horn more.
They mount to the calipers. I installed them after I installed fairing lowers on the bike and had to remove the HD fog lamps. Great light IMO with the 50W bulb. Very easy installation since they come with a harness compatible with Harley's so that you can use the ACC switch to turn them on/off.
The satin finish version is a near perfect match for HD's fork lowers finish (I'd say perfect match to my eye, but yomv); but when I chromed my front end I purchased some chrome blems from them for $350.
Also, PM theshrink on HDF and/or search for his thread for his very inexpensive alternative using highway peg mounts and Wal-mart lights mounted to the engine guard on his Ultra with lower installed.

+1 on the horn. I was on an on ramp for the interstate and saw 3 of them wanting to cross. One went right in front of me and the other 2 were fixing to go for it. They were looking straight at me! I gave my horn a lot of short blasts and they took off the other way. This is almost the middle of the city and I see a lot of dead deer on the interstate and dead ones on that on ramp. I really wonder what goes thru those damned varmits minds.

So true! Lights aint gonna do squat. The brighter the light...the easier for them to see across the road. Horns are better. Or, run the old school screamers that whail in the wind. East to double side tape them to any where on your bike. Lights...well that's just begging for them big horns to jump out in the street....in front of you.
