Done my research--- especially here- heard from a lot of guys finding deals on a 2009 Street Glide, some $2500 to $3500 below MSRP--
so, I go to the dealer, with what I want:
New 2009 Street Glide Sunglo Red Stage One Kit – A/C – SERT - slip-ons (Rineharts or Bub 7) (not Screaming Eagles) ABS Cruise HD Passenger Foot boards (Move the passenger pegs to Rider Highway peg) Chrome Switch covers Bag Liners Quick Release Rack and back rest w/luggage rack Siren II with remote pager
Offered $23,000 out the door (with CA sales tax)--- pre-approved, ready to hand over a check
checks with the Sales Manager-- NO DEAL--- they will take $23,000 OTD with no add-ons except the backrest
to state what you already know, CA is almost always more expensive than everybody else. Have you looked at the "used" bike market? Unless you prefer a brand new one?

well, I do prefer a new one, but I have seen several used bikes that are awesome--- just not around me---

So, am I?? (expecting too much)
It may not help you, but I was closer to 22,000 out the door with highway pegs and 50% off Adjustable backrest on a 2009 ultra. It does not have ABS or security though.
I live in TN which has a 9.25% sales tax. So I know how you feel there.
Just because they want to sell all the 09s now that 10s are here doenst mean they wont fight you. It may take a bit to get what you want. And it may take you going to the Sales Mgr/Owner to get it. The sales guy I was working with was going back and forth to the owner right in front of me. If he had not been right in front of me, or I had not gotten what I wanted, I would have asked to speak to him myself.
