So is it suggested that the tranny and primary only get changed at 10000 miles and not 5000 with the crank case oil? Ive been changing all 3 at 5000. I guess I could save a lot of money and time that way.

True story. I had redline heavy in the tranny. Took bike to dealer under the extended warranty program. Told them NOT to change tranny oil. All was good...until I went to change the tranny oil 2,500 miles later. (I change the tranny every 7,500 miles, btw). Pulled plug and less than an ounce came out. The dealer tech dumped the oil as I'm sure he drains all 3 almost every time. Problem was he didn't refill it....with anything. The redline basically coated the gears for 2,500 miles with no problem...NONE! My next bike will ONLY have redline products...and never go near a dealer for this basic service. BryanTTM told me of his car drag racing days where he would drain tranny before run to save weight!!!! It's some good chit!

In my experience, ALL H-D dealer techs are clueless, brain-dead hacks! I've seen nothing in 50 years of riding to cause me to alter this opinion. No doubt there are a couple of really good ones out there, but I've never met them.

That said, I use the appropriate Redline products in all three holes and will never use anything else.

I have a 2000 road glide with about 100,000 miles on it. I have ridden it to 37 states and it is ridden hard! I have used amsoil, mobil 1, and redline. I like and still use amsoil and mobil 1 in some of my other vehicles.

With that being said my bike consumes a little oil and is nosier with anything but the redline oil! I haven't lost a speedo sensor since switching to the heavy shockproof in the transmission. The primary is a chain and a clutch, I use whatever I have on hand and have never had a problem. Doing holeshots and wheelies my clutch was replaced at 80,000 plus when I was in the primary for other reasons and it would have lasted 10-20,000 more miles!

the only problem i can see with redline, amzoil, and royal purple, is availability. at O'reileys auto parts, they used to carry the royal purple, max cycle in 20-50 for 7.99 a quart. now that same oil is 16.99 a quart. this change taking place within a month since i started using it. as far as amzoil, i'm sure it's a great product, but in order to get a decent price on it, you have to be part of the pyramid scheme. i have syn 3 for the next oil change, as it's 7.99 a quart. it seems to be the only reasonable alternative to having to order a case of oil, and not having access to oil while on the road if needed. the syn 3 i don't care for, but i am now studying the properties and specifications of the shell rotella full synthetic for caterpillar and cummins motors. if the numbers are within specs, that will be great, as it's available at walmart, and any truckstop. it's bound to be fantastic oil, as the engines in trucks you can't afford to break.

Just did an all 3 hole change for a friends Fat Boy..he bought the redline products and i'll tell you what, that tranny oil is the thickest goo I've ever seen. Looked like Sherwin Williams paint and took it's time going in! He says it shifts smoother and quieter so I'm gonna be using Redline at my next change.

I used Redline in my Corvettes. They made a tranny lube called shockproof, (don't know if that's what these guys are using in their bike trannies), anyway, I had Redline in the engine, trans. and rearend. Was very happy with the products. In fact, many guys claimed that Redline in an engine would dyno 5 h.p. more than other brands because of it's slip coefficient. The only problem we had here in South Dakota was that there were no dealers for it. I remember having to order it out of a speed shop in Wisconsin. That was a few years ago, so maybe we have a dealer here now. They also made a product called "water wetter" to throw in with the coolant. It was supposed to make the coolant sheet out through your engine and lower the temp. I used this as well and you could see a difference in the guage. Those vettes alway run very hot. Good products!!

I've used Redline heavy duty shockproof for at least 250,000 miles in my Harley's, and the stuff is bulletproof. NOTHING else will ever go in my gear box. Their other fluids are good as well, but absolutely nothing is as good as their gear oil!

I am using Mobil 1 V-twin right now in my 2008 Street Glide, and am happy with it. Where would I find Red line up in Ontario, Canada ? I have heard so many good things about it and would like to try it.
