Is installing the docking hardware difficult?

The 09 kit is completely different from the earlier kits.

Like others have stated, the 08 and earlier bikes can be a bit rough. I ended up just throwing out the instructions as I thought they were very poorly written. It was apparent whoever wrote them had never tried the install themselves. But all and all if you take your time it is not too bad. I wish someone would have told me to put the bike up on a jack first and not to try it on the jiffy stand.

If you get frustrated easy with things like holes not aligning up you may want to have them do it. As many have noted it can be a hassle and the instructions are poorly written. I can tell you I have ton alot of mods (grips, footboards, fork rebuilds, horns, stereo, fog lights, tires, shifter pegs, brake levers, true track, shocks) but for various reasons this was the worse.

Do one side at a time and use a clamp (plastic w pad protection) to hold the fender and frame together.

So the kit for the 09's is that much easier? I did it on my 06 and it wasnt bad, but kinda pain as everything flexs and moves making it harder to get the bolts back in. Take your time and have patience..
Now I have a 09 SG and was wondering if it was easier as the kit definately looked simpler...

Real easy job. Go for it. Just be careful around the paint. You can use towels to protect the fender.

no experience installing but was able to take 'em off pretty quick and easy ('02 RKC).

took me about30-40 minutes to get it all together. It helped that my buddy has an 07 that we just copied. The time comes in when lining things up and adjusting. Not a hard job to do by yourself.

I installed the kit for the tour pack on my 05. It sucked. I did it, but it sucked. Wish I'da though about putting it on a jack, that woulda made it easier I'm sure.
