The rear brakes on my '08 squealed from day one. Makes the bike sound like a real junker and I'm almost embarassed to be seen on it.

I replaced front and rear with Lyndal pads and they were quiet - for a while. A fix that was suggested by another person on this forum is to clean the pads and put some grease (small amount - don't go crazy here) on the back of the pad where they contact the piston. I also sanded the rotors with fine grit sand paper and then I took a file to the leading edge of the brake pads to create a slight beveled edge.

This worked well for a few thousand miles, but I ride a lot and they are squealing again. Time for another service...

I have an 09 EGC, and my rear brake squeals every once in awhile. I took it into my dealer and they had a service bulletin on it; they applied a paste that came in a kit to my brakes that quieted them down for a little while. This was done for no charge under warranty.

What works best for me now is a hard braking session once a month. I run it up to about 55 mph in 5th gear and apply a firm rear brake, staying on the throttle, until the speed drops to 45 mph. Then, I release the brake and let the speed run back up to 55 mph and repeat 3 times, all the while staying on the power/throttle, and my brake squeal is gone for close to a month.

Of course, I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night.

OK i know this is a old post but my question is....If they put left rotors on the right and vice versa then could i use 2 left rotors on my front wheel??? What are the adverse effects??? It's a lot easier to find left rotors that right ones... (Used ones) that is...

I have a 2014 883 that the rear break squeeks it had 9 miles when I bought it, and nothing has ever been removed. Front is OK, but the rear really squeals. ..... wait, it's a HOG right? so that is normal?
I have to admit, since I'm in the city, I notice how everybody even the person in front of me hears me stop at the lights... should I consider this a safety feature?

I wish I had a fix for it, should I do some hard stops to clear away the new surface?

Thanks in advance
