I was looking at some pictures of the SERT the other night. Can you use it on multiple bikes? If I bought one could I set my bike up and then plug it into my fathers and do the same? Or is there another piece of hardware that stays with the bike..ie pciii
A year or so ago I remember there being a work around for the SERT and multiple bikes. Discussing it is probably a bit taboo on the forums. Perhaps start doing some google reading and you may be able to stumble upon something.
I know for sure that running the SERT IS possible on more than one bike.
A buddy of mine has an 04 CVO deuce. He bought the SERT for it. I believe 04 was the first year that HD switched the international model bikes serial numbers from "1F" to "1W". (Were in Canada eh) So, my buddy had his motor done, and couldnt get maps to load. The SERT wouldnt recognize the "1W" in the international serial number. AFter several hours in the HD dealer and no luck, my indy figured it out! It is possible to change the serial number of the bike in the ECM--in other words, having a few bikes with the same serial number in the computer ECM's.
Only problem is you need the HD "Digital Technician" to do it. This is the HD dealer laptop that does all the downloads etc---for us lowly bike owners, its made of "unobtainium" Even if you were to try to pay off a mechanic at a dealer to do it, the software to do so is "buried" in the Digital Technician.
Probobly not much help to the original post, but I know it can be done
