I just watched the ABS video after getting my new bike. I believe it mentioned that if the ABS light stays on, the unit has detected a problem. Go see your dealer.
If the light is on then the abs part of the brake system is not working. The computer has detected a problem with something. The brakes will now work as a typical bike with no abs. The bike is just like a car, when you start it up the computer checks everything electrical and all lights should go out if no faults are found.
My 2010 Ultra Classic is in the shop right now for that problem. On my bike, the problem only occurs on cold morning rides. I have never noticed the problem in the afternoon when the temperatures gets above 55 or so ( I live in Michigan). This is the second time in a week I have taken the bike in for this problem. The first time I took the bike in, the dealer just cleared the codes. I love thought of having ABS, but I don't want to have to look to see if the light is on to know if I have ABS or not.
