I took a piece of aluminum and bent one end at a 90 degree angle. I attached the stock plastic mount to this using 4 screws and attached this to the nut which holds the switch housing to the fairing. I had to use a bolt which was about 1/4 in longer than stock. This puts it below the bars and makes for a nice clean install and I can move the head unit from car to car. I also added the XM direct which gives a better signal than the stock modulator.

Everyone seems real knowlegable about these satellite units. I need help sorting out different models. I'm looking at Delphi units xm2go and SkyFi. Some questions need answers please.
1. Both models have mobility between home and mobile locations. How durable are these units?
2. Both units use cig lighter and or tape cassette for power. How long are the leads and again, how durable?
3. Both units have antennas in the receiver itself, plus an external antenna as well. Is the internal antenna sufficient for decent reception or must all these add ons be moved from location to location for use?
4. And finally, if you purchase either unit by a certain time, you get a FREE Roady!! unit. What is a Roady II?
I'm lost and confused. Any help would be appreciated. Or better yet, any other units better, cheaper and more durable than Delphi units.
I have both units. I have the Skyfi in my truck, and a Roady 2 on my Harley. The Skyfi unit is bigger, yet has fewer features, a few that come to mind are: The Roady 2 will let you have streaming stock quotes, and the Roady 2 allows you to select certain songs, and if those songs are playing on any station, you are told and it will switch to that station. Roady 2 has the ability to be put in a portable mount (walkman type application), Skyfi does not.
Neither is very good with weather, you need some sort of case. Can't remember the name of the company, but one makes a mount that looks like the three leather pouches that see on many bikes at the top of the faring, in front of the bottom portion of the windscreen. The middle pouch is clear and allows you to control the radio through the pouch...meaning the Skyfi is protected from the elements. The Roady 2 will be exposed as you see in the pics above.
Another big change is that the Roady 2 has an FM modulator, the Skyfi interupts the antenna signal...no chance for interference from some local station.
To your quesitons:
1. Both are durable...
2. If you get the Skyfi with the leather pouch mount that I referred to, the radio is hard wired no need for cigarette lighter. The power does not come from the cassette, that's used to play the output from the radio if you have cassette player and not an FM receiver. The Roady 2 has an aftermarket pieces that will allow you to hardwire it as well...Wires are PLENTY long for anything you want on your bike.
3. Neither unit has an internal antenna that I know of...both have an external. Mine is inside my inner fairing on my EG...some attach elsewhere.
4. Roady 2 is the newest, smallest receiver that XM has going right now.
Hope this helps.
