Default Dyno Run Today

Fresh off the dyno today, a break in the weather allowed me to get to the shop for my appointment.

After some playing around, and working on it........the best we could do today was

71.7 HP
77.7 Torque

That is with stock TC88, Ness Big Sucker, '06 Rinehart True Duals, PCIIIusb, stock ECM.

I'm going to order the 2" quiet baffles when they become available, this will help move up the torque in the low end. I'm also going to order the rev-extend kit from Dynojet to move the rev-limiter up to 6250rpm.

No torque dip like I have see in other systems, the graph actually looks pretty good.

Pretty good numbers! I have a similar set-up, but I have SERT instead of the PCIII. My HP was 73.2 and TQ around 78.5. The fuel/air mixture is a bit different than mine. I think mine was around 13.5.

The AFR traces on our dyno charts reflect ONLY the ratio at 100% throttle, during the final pull.

Much more important to the overall ride, performance, and gas milage of your bike is the AFR under "normal" load conditions (not 100%). Tuners have the ability to set target AFR number that are different under different conditions. If done properly, it's like "best of both worlds"...

The baseline numbers on that run are very close to what mine were with a stock (pipe, A/C, PCIII) bike ~ 2005 RoadGlide.

Baseline was with the map from Dynojet.

Final run was after some tweaking. It went up, and went down.......but in the end we settled on the map that worked best.

I'm happy with it...........runs good, sounds good, and looks good. I basically wanted to make sure it was dialed in correctly for the AFR, and to see if we could any more out of it.

Steve,

I would like to hear how your gas mileage turns out. My first dyno run had AFR like that I had 28 mpg, then I found someone that knnew how to run a dyno, and now have 41 + mpg and my AFR is a lot closer to 13.

With my baseline settings...........I was between 40-45 mpg.

The new settings have the AFR about the same and a bit leaner in spots...........so it should stay about the same I would think.

Keep in mind that the what you see on that graph represents the AFR at 100% throttle. Therefore, unless you run at 100% throttle all the time, it is not an indication of fuel mileage. Usually, tuners will give you a little richer (closer to 14) tune at 100% & back down closer to 13 at 3, 5, 10, 20, 40%, etc....

Bottom line, tuning these things is really multi-dimentional and you can not see the "whole picture" on a single 2-dimentional printed dyno run. If you can hang around and watch them tune it, you'll have a much better understanding of what they do and how it all works together....

A higher AFR number is a leaner condition, a lower AFR number is a richer condition.

12.8-13.3 is for the best power numbers
14.5 is for the best MPG numbers
13.8 is where you get the best of both worlds

With mine hovering around 13.6-14........I'm in the middle to lean section. As long as I stick to 40mpg or more, and the bike runs good.........I'm happy.

Funny, i don't see the dreaded low end torque loss because of the True Duals. Wouldn't closer to 14 be leaner? Air/Foel ratio 14/1?

I was pleasantly surprised when the graphs came up on the screen.............no dip!!

I looked at my buddies graphs with a similar setup with a Thunderheader 2-1...........huge dip in the low end.

I'm going to get the 2" quiet baffles when they become available(mid July) and put those in. That will help the low-end torque even more.
