Update on inner primary leak....
Bad news.....good news......
Bad news.....my primary still leaks. It has been in and out of the dealership now for 3 weeks. They tried a new set of seals/orings first, new seals orings and bearings next, new inner primary last. Yup, still leaking. Probably worse now than ever. I suggested the possibility of the tranny shaft having too much lateral runout or a bad seal surface and was told that they had already checked that. Sure.
Good news.....the new inner primary is chrome. No charge. They gave me a loaner bike. No charge. The loaner is an Ultra Classic. 1550 with 203 cams. Not bad on power, but highly uncomfortable to ride. Feels like a mini-bike compared to the roadie. Much more turbulance at interstate speed, and much less stable in high speed turns and traffic. I WANT MY DAMM BIKE BACK!
Spoke with the owner, face to face. He says that they are doing everything they can. Gee.....I would hate to see what happens to their average customers. Found the guy very uncaring and indifferent to my concerns. When I suggested they pull a new primary off a brand new bike, he laughed and replied that there would be none of that. The service manager finally agreed that if the owner did not want another bike torn down, he would just give me the chrome inner primary free of charge for all my trouble. Happy with that. Now we are waiting on some "Harley guru" that is supposed to be in the dealership monday to give his 2 cents on the problem. Keep your fingers crossed!

Do they have any idea where it is leaking from?? Can't be that hard there is only the starter, tranny, and stator.
I have seen the tranny seal put in backwards and they will leak.
If they gave you a Chrome Inner, I dont' think they come with seals so I would ask them about the tranny seal and how they put it in.

The new inner primary that they installed had all the bearings/seals already installed. I saw it when they pulled it from the parts inventory. The tech doing the work said that he had never seen one that he could not fix....until now. Leave it to me to have the one in a million. It leaks at the rear. Runs right down the inner primary from what appears to be the seal around the tranny shaft. I am planning on going to the Lynchburg Tn rally next weekend, so I hope they have it fixed by then.....
