Default Doing a big bore kit

Going to do a Big bore kit on my 08 Ultra. I have asked several question and have received excellent advice. I was thinking of going with head quarters for their 107st just waiting on a final price, unable to call and ask is a problem. Anybody know of any other companies reliable that has a kit comparable to HQ or I may just go with the SE 103 Stage 4 kit. It won't give me the numbers of the HQ but I think I might be able to extend my warranty and keep it with this set up. Again I am interested in the HQ but looking around for the best offer is the american way. Also can probable get 20% off or maybe even 25% with the right promotion on the SE kit.
Thanks guys

B2C, I just did a HQ 107, a couple weeks ago, granted the HQ ste is not as good as it used to be but I did talk to Kevin and Dough before I purchased the kit. I would look at the contack numbers on teh site and give them a call direct. I am still waiting to get the bike on a dyno but can tell itis kick *** above my 07 RKC with the SE 103 jugs pistons and HQ 500 cams, that bike pulled 101 HP and 103 TQ with the SEST and D&D 2 - 1, I expect above 110 &110 on this bike with the D&D 2 -1 pipe and SEST. Can go either way, its your $ and I am not selling on behalf of HQ just relating my experience. I did get a lot of input fron this board from members that have done many builds HQ and other brands.

B2C, Kevin from HQ is a good friend of mine and I know he's been hard to reach for several months, but is now back, up to nearly 100% time-wise, and reachable by email and phone calls are being returned. Regarding the latter, leave a detailed message of what you want to talk to him about. The better informed you are about what you want, what your questions are (e.g. do I need roller rockers, etc.) the better your conversation will be. If you want to just talk to someone and take turns bending each others ear, before spending the $$$, there are other vendors who will do that.

A buddy of mine does medical malpractice defense work. He tells me that the docs with the best bedside manner are often the worst doctors because they have the time to hold the patient's hand since they aren't busy, while the best doctors often have the worst reputations for bedside manner because they are so busy with surgeries they don't have the time to hold patient's hands.

As for the warranty for an SE kit, get it in writing. I haven't looked at HD's 103" warranties in a year or so, but typically they required installation at time of delivery of a new bike or within 90 days of delivery, as well as installation at the HD store. Given HD's hunger for $$$ due to lower bike sales, that may have changed.

Kevin is back and communications are much better than they were.

Good luck with your research and project.

Scott is top notch and has NO problems speaking on the phone to customers/potential customers before, during, and after the project.
I know HQ has a good rep, but lack of communication would be a big turn off for me.

Your malpractice buddy deosn't no dick, my brother in law is one of the best brain surgeons in town and has the best bed side manner to boot and that's because he doesn't operate on people that don't need to be operated on. It's the ones that have so many surgeries that you want to stay away from because they are the ones that are more interested in there making money than anything else.
As far as HQ they still won't answer the phone; I tried to get a hold of them for 6 months and all I got was a crappy Email not a phone call in the end. If you won't talk to me I'm not giving you $3000 for an engine build and just so you know this would have been the 3rd time I've used them.
I'm looking for another builder because if you have a problem, do you want to make a bunch of lame Emails for God knows how long or talk to a person and get an answer now??????

Do people still recommend GMR, or have they fallen out of favor? I don't see mention of them any more regarding big bore kits and head work.

Loucomition up in Fort Pierce, retired HD mechanic that works from his house, actually a nice garage on his property, recommended by FastHarley (Howard). Happy with his work, straight shooter, plenty of experience with many types of builds. If you need contact numbers let me know.

I have to agree with many here that contactability is key to the comfort level when buying a motor package. I did not have a problem but can see how others have.
