I am a newbie to the forum (and to HD), but have been lurking for a while. Thanks for all the great advice. I am about to pull the trigger on a '05 RK Classic with EFI. I would really like to have the dealer put some new pipes on before I take delivery. I believe that I have narrowed my choices to the true dual Rineharts or the V & H slip-on ovals. I really like the sound of both (but that is just from the internet sound clips). A couple of times I even tried hanging around the dealership for for a couple of hours but have not been able to hear the pipes in person. Bottom line is this, I want something a little louder than the stock pipes but not anything REAL loud. For those of you who have heard both, which is louder, the Rinehats or the V & H? Or, are they about the same? I am so excited to get this bike ordered I can hardly wait. Thanks.

I run HD SE performance touring pipes on my '05 RKC. Louder than stock but much quieter than either the Rines or V&H. I'd say the rineharts are definitely louder than the V&H's based on just riding with the guys. My 2 cents: If and when I switch it will probably be to the rineharts. Good luck and enjoy the ride.

Thanks for the quick replies. Does the Rinehart have different baffles available? ie. a "quiet baffle? Also, I have heard it mentioned that there is a SE and an SEII? What part number would I tell my dealer for the SEII? It seems like I have read that the SEII is a little louder than the SE. Thanks again.

Yes, you can get different baffles for the Rineharts, I love mine and I think they look and sound awesome and with the true duals your right leg doesn't get as hot and you can see more of the motor on the right side.

the preformance se touring is what im getting put on mine. picking the bike up tomorow i let you know how they sound. im getting the same bike rk classic

Dont worry about the part number, just tell the dealer you want SEII's...he'll know what the difference is...I just looked in my catalogue, there are several part numbers based on what ends you want...if you go to the Harley website, it will help you by letting you look at the various ones.
Screamin' Eagle II Slip Ons are what you want if'n you decide to go that way.

Big difference in price between slip on's ad the full exhaust. It is up to you whether the sound difference between the two justify's the $$$.
I know Rinehart offers a "quiet baffle" as well as a "open air performance baffle". the system comes with a standard baffle. I just discovered that from another member of this forum. I assume the standard baffle is in between the afore mentioned baffles. Two members of my family have Rineharts and I am putting them on my FLTRI when it comes in. They sound great, IMO, low in the db range and nice and throaty.
As far as V&H, I had a pro pipe hs on my Deuce and absolutely loved it. Quality product all around. Prior to the V&H I had SE slip ons. While I thought the bang for the buck was there I thought they were a little tame.
If you got the cash to spend i say Rineharts are the way to go for sound, performance and looks. Plenty of prescence when you want it but you can also cruise a comfy low rumble when required. My 2. cents. Good luck
