Driller, Welcome to the Forum and congrat on the bike. I went through exactly the same thing you are going through a few months. Fortuneately, someone warned me that the pipes do not sound like the soundclips, I think that they would fall under the category you called "LOUD".
I went with the SEII slip-on's, the air kit and got the re-map. I thought the SEII's were loud when I first got the bike, but now I really like them. I don't rattle the neighbors windows in the morning (unless I want to), nice throaty sound and get plenty loud enough for me when I get on them. (Of course, I may think they're not loud enough at some time in the future)
Anyway, my advice would be to go with the SEII slip ons and spend the extra money on an air kit (either SE or Kand N) and a re-map or power commander.
Just my opinion, FWIW.
In the long run...man you're riding a Harley, people will be able to hear you whatever you decide and life is sweet. You can't go wrong!!! Art

Wow, thanks for all of the great advice. I don't think that I've ever been on such a friendly and helpful forum. I'm looking forward to becoming one of the "gang". It sounds like I can't go wrong with whatever I choose. I'm going to go and hang around the dealership tomorrow - maybe I'll get lucky and hear some of the different pipes in person. Hopefully I'm going to place my order tomorrow. Wish me luck!

Be carefull with rhineharts .Have been having some issues with the welds on theheatshields breaking loose.
Go with Kerker slip ons and billet endcaps .THey are louder than the SEIIs

I was also in your boat back in March when I was in a quandry as to what pipes to get. I settled on the SE II slip-ons and they are just fine. At cruise, they have a great deep rumble - when you accelerate, they do make noise, but, it's not that bad. You pretty much control how much sound they put out with your throttle control. I also got the K&N and the Power Commander. They have a map for just about every possible configuration as the link will show you. I am quite pleased with the sound and the engine characteristics with the equipment I have.

Stumpyonaglide

This is true.

I had my right one replaced yesterday and the dealer said it was the second in a month but they changed it under warranty (no questions asked).I love my Rineharts and would buy another pair any day of the week.I'm sure Rinehart will fix this problem with their pipes soon if not already done due to the fact they have one of the hottest names on the market.

I beleve the words I said below (the best pipes I've ever owned) IMHO.

Just talked to guy tonight that put Rineharts on his Ultra last week. Finally, I will get to hear these pipes in person. He also told me that his buddy has SE slip-ons and would be happy to let me hear them too. So, from what I understand, volume wise the SE II's would be somewhere in-between these two. I need to hurry up and decide so I can get my bike ordered.

The V&H Ovals are superb sounding and very high quality. They are not all that loud but do give your Harley the "sound" you are looking for. They also look very nice compared to the round pipes. You'll have a big grin on your face when you hear them in person.

I have an 04 RKC and had the dealer install the SEII's before I picked it up. The sound at an idle was quiet but when the throttle was cracked they would bark. I have 4000 miles on it and did the 95" kit this spring. The pipes are now louder but not unbearable. I live on a quiet street and don't want any complaints. These mufflers do the trick.
