Default Becoming Harley

Greetings - have an '08 RK FLHPI that i purchased used in June & have since put almost 3K miles on in 2+ months (total miles now = @7K). I changed from a rice rocket to a cruiser & there was some initial "culture shock", but i have now bonded with my cruiser to the point where i can't imagine going back to a sport bike (all the usual crap - wife, new kid in the last year, getting older, long daily work commute, etc). Anyway, got a few DIY type ?'s
1.) where is best place / what should i pay to get a service manual
2.) Bike still has cop tire on rear, i'll ride it till its bald, but when i change i see most prefer the E3's - size (since i guess its not a direct replacement for OEM), as well, opinions on radial or bias version of the tire?
3.) Oil / tranny fluid - i want to change myself, but need a way to lift bike - best low cost lift option for a road king ?
4.) 10K service - i live in Florida - about what should i pay for this service
5.) THANKS !!

1. Get the Harley service manual at any Harley dealer. They normally sell for about $60.

3. Harbor frieght makes a very good lift for the money.

I couldn't answer the rest.

A few days ago someone had an 08 touring svc manual for sale in the classifieds under the touring seciton, that'd be cheaper than buying from hd.
I dont have a lift but change my fluids on the jiffy stand & i think thats what the svc manual says to do for the crankcase, the tranny and primary i drain on the jiffy stand as much as possible and then just hold it upright till the rest drains, altho a lift would be really nice to have.
Enjoy the ride!

Default I appreciate it !

Thanks for the suggestions. I guess the bottom line is to get the manual & make sure i know exactly what i'm up against for any given job.

Get the Harley service manual and parts manual. There is an electrical system service manual as well. Zanottis or Chicago HD offer up to 20% discount on parts, I bought my manuals from one of them (If I remember it was just over $100 for all 3).

1. Hold the bike upright $0
2. Rope or strap to ceiling joists in garage $5-10
3. Wheel Chock (HF has 2 decent chocks when they are on sale the cheap is $30 the better one is $50, also watch for 20% off coupons).
4. You can get a jack at HF, many department stores and auto parts stores. $70-$150.
Just don't ask too many questions about it on this forum.

I just bought that bike-jack at Harbor Freight a couple of days ago. It was $79.95 and worth it as far as I'm concerned. Really makes cleaning the wheels and tires a breeze and is built quite well. Put it together in 10 minutes.

Where in Florida do you live? North, Central, or South? Staying away from any Rossmeyer's will be your biggest savings. Down here (Rossmeyer's and such) the 10K is something like $489 plus tax and little BS fees, whereas the place where I got our bikes (250 miles north) the service was $360 period. Shop around. If in South Florida, PM me, one of mine is a cop bike also.

Good luck and welcome.
